Home
Welcome to tjl2.com! This site has been set up so that I have somewhere to store various useful tips and scripts for work and home.
This site also serves as somewhere for me to have a play around with various web design techniques. I've just recently converted the site to a Sinatra Ruby app, using HAML templates to create the HTML. It is much more fun than writing HTML markup and I can use Ruby rather than PHP. Some of this stuff might even be useful for other people.
Site Information
Below is a list of some of the things you will find on this site:
- quotawatch — a PHP script used to monitor disk quotas on an Ensim/Parallels Pro server
- virtDomain.sh — a couple of examples of how to use Ensim's virtDomain customisation scripts
- system admin section — a few notes and how-to's to remind me how I have solved various Linux-related problems, both at work and home
- Vim Cheat Sheet — proving popular on several Linux forums, this cheat sheet lists and describes many Vim commands. It is available in PDF or OpenOffice.org format and is ideal for printing out and keeping on your desk!
Other stuff
As well as the technical gubbins on this site, I also have a couple of sites that I have made using Ruby on Rails which aren't just for nerdy types to use!
- I'm currently working on a fashion-related social networking site, wardrobedilemma.com — the idea of this site is to enable people to find out what other people think of their outfits, or to get help finding items of clothing. Hopefully it should prove to be fun and useful!
- OK, this one is for nerdy types! I used to regularly use doggdot.us as a source of RSS feeds from Digg , Slashdot and Delicious , but this site has recently gone AWOL. So to fill the void, I have built another Rails site, which offers the same feeds and a few more: nerdnews.tjl2.com
